Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the team understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his own means, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The healer turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Explorers and Planners tables.

Audiences can expect discovering which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
