19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's maiden trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has secured twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to win a championship is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and recurring reactions on court had led observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.

He saved four initial opportunities in a close final set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
